Today was Senior Day and before the game Villanova honored graduating seniors Lauren McCoy (Spotsylvania, Va.); Katy Nagy (Bellmore, N.Y.); Erin Ryan (Doylestown, Pa.); Katie Ryan (Wayne, N.J.); and Megan Verdeur (Levittown, Pa.). The senior class has been a part of 36 victories for the Wildcats and with today's game improved to 23-10-5 (.671) at home in their careers.

Junior forward Heidi Sabatura (Lawrenceville, N.J.) scored her second game-winning goal of the season and the first since a 3-2 win over Georgia State on August 26 in the second week of the season. Sabatura now has five career game-winning tallies.

The only goal of the game came just 4:32 into the contest and from there Villanova hung on for a 1-0 victory. This marked the earliest in a game that the Wildcats have scored a game-winning goal since a 1-0 win at home over Connecticut on September 29, 2006, when Nikki Mabery scored just 1:18 into the contest.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jami Kranich (Hamden, Conn.) made six saves to earn her first shutout of the season. It was the fourth career shutout for Kranich, who has played every second in goal for Villanova this season. She owns a .724 save percentage and a 1.44 goals-against average for through 16 games on the year.

With today's victory the Wildcats are now 4-0-1 all-time at home against the Bearcats, with all four wins coming since Cincinnati joined the BIG EAST before the 2005 season. The tie was a scoreless draw on October 14, 1984 at Villanova Stadium during the second varsity season of Villanova women's soccer.
