Post-Game Notes

The goal scored by senior midfielder Stacia Hartung was the third of her career and the first since she scored two goals during her freshman season. She has three goals, nine assists and 15 points in her career.

Villanova is now 12-11-2 in season openers, including 7-6 in season openers at home. Since the arrival of head coach Ann Clifton in 1997, the Wildcats are 8-3-0 in season openers, including 6-0-0 at home. Villanova has won its season opener each year since 2001 and the streak of seven straight victories is a program best. Today's game marked the third straight season the Wildcats opened the year with a shutout victory.

The Wildcats have an all-time record of 36-32-5 (.527) in regular season tournament games, including a 16-6-1 (.717) mark under Ann Clifton and an 8-1 (.889) record in regular season tournament home games.

Villanova now leads the all-time series with Lafayette by a 5-0-0 count, although today's meeting was the first since 1993. The Wildcats have outscored the Leopards 24-3 in the five meetings and are now 28-10-3 all-time against members of the Patriot League.

Wildcat freshmen Justine Wollner (Downingtown, Pa.), Rachel Schuyler (Cheshire, Conn.) and Patty Tierney (Churchville, Pa.) all made their collegiate debut coming off the bench in today's game.

Today's game marked the first time since 2003 that Villanova had no freshmen in the opening game starting lineup. Head coach Ann Clifton has seven seniors on her roster this season, which is the most since her initial Wildcat squad in 1997. All seven seniors were in the starting lineup for the game along with three juniors and one sophomore.
