Villanova Rowing Hires New Assistant Coach Nancy Olewnik

VILLANOVA, Pa. – This past weekend, the Villanova women’s rowing team hired a new assistant coach for the 2017-18 season. Nancy Olewnik, a former member of the Villanova rowing team from 2002-2006, rejoins the program to give back as a coach. During her time at Villanova, she competed with the Vesper Boating Club in their National Team Development camp and won the 8+ at the Canadian Henley in 2004. In 2006, she competed with her Villanova teammates in the Women’s Royal Henley Regatta and won the 4+ event at the Reading Regatta in England to conclude her rowing career as a student.

During her 10-year career in financial services following her graduation from the University, she also coached for Mile High Rowing, a high school program in Denver, Colorado. During the summer of 2016, she coached the Penn AC U18 National Development Camp. Starting in the 2016-17 season, she was an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Philadelphia University. Her duties included helping coach the freshmen rowers, and also helped recruit the largest incoming freshmen class in program history.

Olewnik had this to say about her new job at her alma mater, “While I’ve enjoyed my coaching experience down river, I’m thrilled to come back to Villanova. There’s nothing like coming home. It’s always been my dream to coach here and give back to a University I love. The academics and rowing here are incredible and I’m excited to join Coach Carissa Adams. I believe in her vision and am excited to take the team to the next level.”
