Wildcats Prepare to Set Sail in 76th Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - There is just one event remaining for the Villanova rowing team before the American Athletic Conference tournament. The Wildcats will conclude their regular season this weekend with Friday and Saturday racing action at one of their biggest events of the year, the 76th Aberdeen Dad Vail Regatta.
Villanova will be competing in four races with the Varsity 8+, Varsity 4+, Freshman/Novice 8+ and Freshman/Novice 4+ boats taking on schools from around the entire country.
The boats set sail at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday from the Boathouse Row launching point on the Schuylkill River. The V4+ opens the day with their 6 boat heat at 8:30AM against a field of 35 other crews.
The V8+ has their heat at 10:48AM Friday morning against 4 other boats (of a field of 30), including #1 seed UMass. The Freshman/Novice 4+ has a heat at 1:43PM against a field of 42 other boats. The Freshman Novice 8+ goes off at 3:54PM, with 26 other boats in their event.
The semi-finals will begin next morning before the finals get going in the afternoon. ABC-6 will televise the finals with coverage beginning at 1 p.m.
