Wildcats Wind Up Fall Season At Belly of the Carnegie

PRINCETON, N.J. - The Villanova women's rowing team concluded its fall season this past weekend at the Belly of the Carnegie, as four boats competed in the Women's Eight competition. The 2 ¾ mile race is open to novice women's collegiate crews.

Villanova's "B" boat placed 22nd in the field of 30 with a time of 17:54.24, the first of three consecutive Wildcat boats to cross the finish line. The "A" boat crossed in 18:04.60 to finish 23rd, while the lightweight "D" boat placed 24th in 18:17.42. The Villanova "C" boat came in 29th with a time of 19:28.04.

Host Princeton saw the top two of its three boats place first and third, respectively, in the race. The Princeton "A" boat bested the field by nearly 16 seconds with a time of 16:04.43. Rounding out the top five were Columbia "B" (16:20.36), Princeton "B" (16:22.29), Cornell "A" (16:24.76) and Pennsylvania "A" (16:31.97).

The Wildcats competed in five regattas during the fall season and totaled four first-place finishes in the races the team entered. Villanova will continue the 2004-05 season in the spring. The complete spring season schedule will be announced at a later date.
