Women's Novice Eight Led Wildcat Competitors at Princeton Chase

PRINCETON, N.J.--Members of the Villanova rowing team competed in four different events on Sunday at the Princeton Chase, as the team participated in its second event in as many days during the weekend. The Wildcats had boats competing in the Varsity Eight, Novice Eight, Varsity Four and Small Boats races.
In the Novice Eight race, Villanova posted a time of 18:33.635 and finished 12th in the field. The Wildcats split time at the midpoint of the three-mile race was 10:15.781. The race was won by Princeton in 16:13.883, and the Tigers finished ahead of Columbia and Virginia with a nearly 12-second winning margin.
Villanova had three boats competing in the Small Boats race. The top finishers for the Wildcats were the pair of sophomore Kellie Kruppenbacher (Charlton, N.Y.) and senior Katie Grasing (Baldwin, N.Y.), who recorded a time of 20:56.760. A second Villanova pair of sophomores Addison Hunt (Reading, Mass.) and Michele Woolbert (Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) finished in 20:59.971. Sophomore Molly Berg (Grosse Point Farms, Mich.) raced as a single and produced a time of 22:32.681.
Three boats competed for Villanova in the Varsity Four race, where the team's `A' boat crossed the finish line in 18:36.537. The Wildcats top entry in the event had a split time of 10:30.220 and placed 32nd overall. The Villanova `B' boat was 36th in 18:52.299 and the team's lightweight `C' boat finished 45th in 20:24.242. The top two Princeton boats placed first (16:41.99) and second ahead of the top entry from Syracuse.
The Wildcats had two boats racing in the Varsity Eight race. The `A' boat finished in 17:17.017, while the Villanova `B' boat had a time of 18:09.227. Yale, Virginia, and Princeton were the top three boats in the race.
One competition remains on the fall schedule for Villanova, which will compete against Massachusetts on Saturday, November 7 in Amherst.
