PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The Villanova University rowing team was on the road this past weekend competing at the Head of the Ohio Regatta. Two boats were able to take first place finishes while in Pittsburgh.

The Women's Club 8 boats took both first and fourth in their races. Sophomore Brianna Ibjian was the coxswain on the boat while senior Kathleen O'Connell acted as the stroke. From the front to the back it was senior Kathleen Barzelatto, senior Jane Pancurak, freshman Kate Traynor, junior Caitlin Debarbrie, sophomore Lindsey Hamilton, sophomore Katherine Sutton and finally at the bow was sophomore Laura Collins. The team turned in a 16:27.1380 to take the race.

In the Women's Open pair Villanova took the top two spots with senior's O'Connell and Barzelatto teaming up for first place and senior Pancurak and Marissa Miraval took second. O'Connell and Barzelatto finished the race in 17:48.0367 while Pancurak and Miraval came in with a 17:58.3200.

The rowers will next be in action Saturday, October 13 at the Navy Day Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa.
