Villanova Women's Rowing Takes Third at CAA Championships

The Villanova women's rowing team competed at the CAA Rowing Championships this morning and finished third overall. Three Villanova young women earned CAA honors. Hailey Hurteau was named to the CAA All-Academic Team. Seniors Emily Lenane and Maggie Cavanaugh were named to the All-CAA Team.

The third varsity eight boat was the first to race and they finished in third behind Northeastern and Delaware. They finished with a time of 7:16.747 and finished ahead of Drexel and Buffalo. This race did not count towards the overall team points.

Next up to race was the varsity four boat who finished fifth with a time of 8:22.375. Villanova finished ahead of Buffalo, but had to race against Northeastern, Drexel, Delaware, and Eastern Michigan.

Villanova finished in third in both the second varsity eight and varsity eight races. Villanova's race time for the second varsity eight race was 7:02.637 and finished ahead of Delaware, Buffalo, and Eastern Michigan. The varsity eight boat finished with a time of 6:48.412 and also finished ahead of Delaware, Eastern Michigan, and Buffalo.

As a team, Villanova finished third overall with 22 total points. Northeastern finished first with 36, followed by Drexel with 30. Delaware finished fourth, Eastern Michigan fifth, and Buffalo finished sixth.

This will conclude the season for the Villanova women's rowing team. A huge thank you to our five seniors, Maggie Cavanaugh, Lucia DeNicola, Jacqueline Denning, Emily Lenane and Kiera McCloy for all they have done to help the Villanova women's rowing program. The five seniors will graduate next week, Friday May 19.
