PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -The `Cats raced relentlessly with fierce determination against five local schools in the Philadelphia area on Saturday, April 28th and were rewarded with a first-place standing in the Women's Pair. This past weekend featured a showdown between St. Joseph's, Drexel, Temple, La Salle, Philadelphia University and Villanova on the Schuylkill River in varying winds of 8-10 miles per hour.

There were six total events on the day with Villanova choosing to enter in all but the Second Varsity Eight category. In this specific race, Drexel came out on top over St. Joseph's (6:57.60), Temple (7:12.90) and La Salle (7:34.10) with a time of 6:56.90. Villanova registered a time of 8:46.80 in the Women's Pair to best second-place Drexel (8:56.90) by a ten second margin. Philadelphia University finished with a time of 9:36.00 to round out of the three-team field in third-place.

A second-place outcome from VU (8:19.70) in the Freshmen Four category would result from a neck and neck showing near the finish line. Host of the event, St. Joseph's, notched the triumph with a time of 8:16.50. The Rams of Philadelphia University (8:30.40) narrowly defeated the Explorers of La Salle (8:31.10) to claim the third rank in the order.
