Novice Four Paces Wildcats At BIG EAST Championships

Worcester, Mass. - The Villanova Wildcats women's rowing team hit the road for the BIG EAST Championships on Saturday in Worcester, Massachusetts and came away with an eighth place finish. The Wildcats actually tied for eighth with West Virginia, but won the tiebreaker thanks to a better finish by the Varsity Eight boat. The top finisher for the Wildcats was the Novice Four boat, coming in fifth in a time of 8:21.73. Next were a couple of seventh place finishes by the Novice Eight and Varsity Eight in their respective races. The Novice Eight finished nearly seven second ahead of Cincinnati in the Petite final to claim their spot. The Varsity Eight finished well ahead of Georgetown and West Virginia to claim seventh in their race. The Varsity Four went into their race seeded ninth, and that is where they came out at the end of the day, with a time of 8:23.93 in their final race. Notre Dame was the conference champion, accumulating 118 points while second place went to Louisville by virtue of a tiebreaker over Syracuse. Villanova will return to the water on Saturday for the East Coast Athletic Conference Metro Regatta.
