CHESTERTOWN, Md. - The Villanova women's rowing team returned to the water Saturday morning when took on Philadelphia University, ranked eighth in Division II, Washington University, tanked ninth in Division III, on the Chester River in Maryland.
With rough wind conditions that caused choppy waters, the Wildcats were able to pull off a pair of victories in the Second Varsity Eight and Varsity four races.
In the Second Varsity Eight, Villanova was able to edge Washington by less than a second, finishing the race in just under seven minutes.
In the Varsity Four Race that was cut short due to the terrible conditions, the Wildcats claimed the top two slots over third place finisher, Philadelphia. The "A" boat completed the race with a time of 6:02, five seconds better than their "B" boat.
Villanova will return to action next weekend in Cherry Hill, N.J. at the Knecht Cup. Below is a look at the time from Saturday's regatta:
