PHILADELPHIA, PA. - Villanova's lightweight four and varsity four won their respective events in the Murphy Cup held on the Schuylkill River on Saturday. The lightweight four edged out Temple by three seconds in its race, while the varsity boat beat its nearest competition by six seconds.

The novice four finished second behind perennial-EWIAC Navy, while the novice eight ran into some unfortunate luck with its race. The novice eight was in second place with 10 strokes to go, but caught a boat-stopping crab and finished in fourth place with six rowers.

In the varsity eight races, Villanova's first varsity eight crossed the line second after Navy, while the second varsity eight raced to third.

Villanova returns to the water this weekend at the San Diego Crew Classic, where the varsity eight will row in the prestigious Jessop-Whittier Cup.
