The Villanova Athletic fund, Rev. Peter M. Donohue, O.S.A., and Director of Athletics Mark Jackson request the pleasure of your company for the Villanova Rowing Celebration in Honor of Jack St. Clair. This event will take place on Saturday, October 29th in the Villanova Stadium West End Zone Building on the second floor. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m. and go until 10:00 p.m.
This past Saturday many student-athletes were honored at the home football game on September 17th.
The rowing team is a very talented team both athletically and academically. The following athletes were recognized by the CAA for the Commissioner’s Academic Award.
To be eligible for recognition, a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.35 or higher, completed one full year at their institution (freshmen and first-year transfers are not eligible), be an institutional letter winner and competed at the 2016 IRA National Championship Regatta.
The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association (CRCA) announced its 2016 scholar athletes and Villanova is represented by Jacqueline Denning, Caroline McCaughey, Morgan Mroz, Briggs Mroz, Melanie Preve, Abigale Schenone, and Julia Talladay.
On Sunday Villanova faced Fordham, Princeton, Georgetown, and MIT in the Petite Finals. The Wildcats battled with Fordham and in the end Villanova was able to edge out the victory with a time of 8:00.180.
Villanova rowing capped off their season at the CAA Conference Championships early Sunday morning. Due to strong winds on race day the races were moved to 6 AM. All of the Wildcat boats were seeded 6th heading into the conference championship that also included Northeastern, Drexel, Eastern Michigan, Delaware, and Buffalo.
