VILLANOVA, PA - On Tuesday, May 22, Villanova University women's lacrosse junior Sarah DePeters (Rochester, N.Y./ Irondequoit High School) was named to the 2001 Verizon Academic All-District II second team. The honor acknowledges DePeters' outstanding year both on the playing field and in the classroom.

On the field, DePeters helped lead the Villanova women's lacrosse team and first year head coach Shannon O'Neil to a 6-11 record. Despite having just two seniors and three juniors on the entire roster, DePeters and the Wildcats posted three more victories than they did all of last season when they finished 3-13 overall.

DePeters led the Villanova team in goals (43) and total points (47) in 2001. She also recorded four assists and 29 groundballs on the season. Through her first three seasons on the Main Line, DePeters has tallied 81 goals and 13 assists for 94 points.

In the classroom, DePeters has been equally impressive. A junior English major, she has registered a 3.60 cumulative GPA.
