VILLANOVA, Pa. - Sophomore midfielder Meghan Carolan received a major honor this week when she was tabbed a second team Mid-Atlantic Regional All-American. It is the first All-American recognition for the native of Hicksville, N.Y.

Carolan finished third on the Wildcats in scoring this season with 29 goals, four assists and 33 points. In addition, she was third in the nation in groundballs per game (4.5) and now has a total of 94 in her two seasons on the Main Line.

A total of four Patriot League players were cited as Mid-Atlantic Regional All-Americans. Joining Carolan were junior Stephanie Tinney of Lafayette (first team), junior Heather McClelland of Lafayette (second team) and senior Ashley Evans of Bucknell (second team). Carolan earlier was named to the first team All-Patriot League squad.

The last Wildcat to be honored as a Mid-Atlantic Regional All-American was the school's all-time leading scorer, Meghan Doyle, in 1999.

Carolan is one of 11 starters due back for the Wildcats for the 2002 season.
