Doyle Breaks Women's Lacrosse Single Season Scoring Record

VILLANOVA, Pa. - All season long, junior co-captain Meghan Doyle has been a scoring machine for the Villanova women's lacrosse team. With her three goal effort on Sunday, April 26, in the Wildcats season-ending loss to the No. 15 Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Doyle broke Villanova's single-season scoring record as she finished the 1998 season with 51 goals. The old mark of 49 goals was set by Leigh Ann Leone during 1993 season.
Doyle, a native of Cockeysville, Md., finished the season with a team-high 61 points (51 goals, 10 assists) and ranks 12th in NCAA for goals per game averaging 3.19 goals (updated 4/27/98). Doyle's season was highlighted by her nine point effort (seven goals, two assists) versus Drexel on April 14.
During her three years on the Main Line Doyle has recorded 107 points (75 goals, 32 assists). She became just the 5th player in Villanova's women's lacrosse history to record over 100 points.
