VILLANOVA, Pa. - After a week off, the Villanova women's lacrosse squad travels to No. 14 Loyola on Sunday for a BIG EAST Conference match-up. First draw is set for 1:00 p.m. at Ridley Athletic Complex.
The Wildcats posted back-to-back conference victories last weekend and are now 4-9 overall and 2-3 in the BIG EAST. Villanova defeated Cincinnati 17-10 and took a 9-8 victory over Louisville in overtime. It was the first time Villanova had defeated Louisville and the two wins marks the most conference victories for the Wildcats since joining the league two seasons ago. Senior Justine Donodeo leads the squad with 32 goals and 38 points, while junior Maria Bowman has tallied 14 goals and 21 points. In goal, junior Dani Wiedmeier has 78 saves and three wins.
Loyola is 8-3 overall and 4-0 in league play. The Greyhounds and Syracuse are the only two remaining undefeated squads in BIG EAST play. Loyola is led by sophomore Marlee Paton's 50 points on 28 goals and 22 assists. Freshman Annie Thomas is second on the team with 24 goals, 17 assists and 41 points. Defensively, senior Kellye Gallagher is second nationally in ground balls with 41 and caused turnovers with 34.
The Greyhounds own a 2-0 all-time record over Villanova.
