VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's lacrosse team (7-5, 2-1 BIG EAST) hosts No. 19 Louisville (9-3, 3-0) for the Wildcats' final home game of the season Sunday at noon.
Villanova dropped Cincinnati, 12-7, on Friday. Chelsey Henderson, Jessica Mucci, Meghan Breen and Kelsey Denihan each scored twice, while Mucci and Breen also recorded an assist each. The Wildcats outshot the Bearcats, 27-13, and held a 15-10 advantage in ground balls.
Breen now has 30 points on the year, which leads the team, with 22 goals and eight assists. Mucci has the team lead in assists with 19.
Last season, the Wildcats fell 13-10 to Louisville. Mucci recorded four assists in the game.
Before the game, seniors Amy Begay, Katie Collopy, Caroline Guidera, Ali Judge, Meredith Mangiarotti, Christine O'Reilly, Lauren Shockley and Julia Todd will be honored for their contributions to Villanova and the women's lacrosse team.
Scouting the Cardinals
No. 19 Louisville (9-3, 3-0) is on a five-game win streak and hasn't lost since March 8 (12-9, at Notre Dame). The Cardinals defeated Temple, 15-6, on Friday. Faye Brust recorde five goals while Nikki Boltja had four.
Boltja leads the team and conference with 46 goals and 60 points on the season. Brust is second with 41 goals and 45 points.
Ashley Herbst has started all 12 games for the Cardinals in goal and holds a 9.36 goals against average and a .301 save percentage.
