Wildcats Play Final Home Games this Weekend

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's lacrosse squad will play its final home games in 2012 beginning Friday at 4:00 p.m. against Cincinnati. The Wildcats will also host Louisville on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Villanova Stadium.

Sunday is senior day and seniors Justine Donodeo, Mary Liva and Princess Livingston will be honored in a pre-game ceremony.

Villanova is 2-9 and 0-3 in the BIG EAST after falling 18-5 at No. 6 Notre Dame last Saturday. Donodeo leads the offense with 27 goals and ranks eighth in the conference with 2.45 goals per game. Junior Maria Bowman has 12 goals this season and six assists for 18 points. Classmate Shawna Giust has picked up 22 ground balls and won 27 draw controls to lead the defense.

Cincinnati is 3-7 overall and also has a 0-3 mark in the BIG EAST. The Bearcats fell 22-4 to No. 16 Georgetown a week ago. Cincinnati is the conference leader in draw controls and combines to win 15.30 per contest. Megan Bell leads the league with 52. Laura Simanski leads the offense with 24 goals. Villanova is 3-0 all-time against the Bearcats and won last season 11-10 after trailing by seven goals in the game.

Louisville is currently 3-8 and 1-3 in the BIG EAST. The Cardinals will play at Rutgers on Friday before facing Villanova on Sunday. Last week Louisville fell to Georgetown at home, 19-11. Nikki Boltja has scored 42 goals this season, while Jamie Redding has tallied 11 assists. Monica Negron has won 29 draw controls and picked up 27 ground balls. Villanova fell 16-4 at Louisville last season.
