VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's lacrosse team (6-4, 1-0 BIG EAST) takes a quick trip to new conference rival Temple (3-7, 0-1) Saturday at 1 p.m.
In their last outing, the Wildcats defeated Lafayette, 8-6. Sophomore midfielder Shannon Galvin notched two goals in the contest while junior attack Jessica Mucci tallied two assists. Sophomore midfielder Chelsey Henderson picked up three ground balls.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jaclyn Fraum made eight saves in the contest.
Sophomore attack Meghan Breen leads the team in goals (17) and points (24). Mucci holds the team lead in assists with 15. Henderson has grabbed 21 ground balls. Junior defender Taylor Mangione and senior defender Amy Begay have each caused 12 turnovers.
Fraum holds an 8.80 goals against average, a .462 save percentage and a 5-3 record on the season.
Temple has a 0-5 series record against Villanova. The last meeting came in 2009.
Scouting the Owls
In its last outing, Temple fell to Connecticut, 15-9, last Saturday. Nicole Tiernan scored four goals and Jaymie Tabor added a hat trick in the loss. Goalkeeper Jaqi Kakalecik made five saves in the game.
Tabor (21G, 2A) and Tiernan (15G, 1A) are the only Owls with more than 10 goals and 10 points on the season. Kakalecik has played in all 10 games and holds a 10.85 goals against average and a .379 save percentage.
