NEW YORK - After playing a key role in the Villanova women's lacrosse team's 14-11 victory over Rutgers on Saturday, sophomore goalkeeper Jaclyn Fraum has been named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder Shannon Galvin was also named to the BIG EAST Honor Roll.

Fraum made 15 saves, 10 in the second half, as the Wildcats defeated Rutgers for the first time in program history and started 1-0 in BIG EAST play for the first time since the conference began hosting the sport.

The Pittsford, N.Y., native has played in all nine games for the Wildcats this season and holds a 9.15 goals against average and a .450 save percentage. Fraum has been named to the conference honor roll twice this season.

Galvin tallied three goals and an assist in the Wildcats' win over the Scarlet Knights. She led the team with eight shots and also picked up three ground balls.

The Maplewood, N.J., native has 12 goals and seven assists on the season and has earned 13 ground balls.

The Wildcats finish nonconference play Wednesday evening when they travel to Lafayette at 7:30 p.m.
