Wildcats Open Conference Play Against Rutgers Saturday

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's lacrosse team (4-4) opens BIG EAST play against Rutgers (6-4) Saturday at 1 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.

The Wildcats are coming off a 17-8 loss to No. 6 Notre Dame last Sunday. Freshman midfielder Becca Hetrick and junior midfielder Hannah Goforth each scored twice in the game.

On the season, sophomore midfielder Chelsey Henderson leads the team with 19 points (11G, 8A). Sophomore attacks Kelsey Denihan and Meghan Breen each have 14 goals while junior attack Jessica Mucci has 12 assists.

Villanova Falls in Close Contest with Rutgers, 9-6
Sophomore Jackie Froccaro (Sands Point, N.Y.) and senior Maria Bowman (Ft. Belvoir, Va.) led the Wildcats with two goals each but it wouldn't be enough to lift Villanova over Rutgers as the Wildcats fell to the Scarlet Knights 9-6 on Saturday afternoon at RU Turf Field at the Stadium Complex.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jaclyn Fraum holds an 8.88 goals against average and a .419 save percentage on the season.

The Wildcats and Scarlet Knights have played 15 times with Rutgers winning each game.

Scouting the Scarlet Knights
Rutgers (6-4) earned an 11-10 win over Hofstra on Wednesday. Lauren Sbrilli led the team with a hat trick. The Scarlet Knights are on three-game win streak, with each game decided by one goal.

Sbrilli leads the team in goals with 16, and is the only player on the team with more than 10 goals. Sbrilli also leads the team in points (19).



Amanda Currell has played in every game for Rutgers and holds an 8.84 goals against average and a .519 save percentage.
