Mucci Named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, Hirschfeld Earns Honor Roll Accolades

PROVIDENCE, R. I. - Sophomore Jessica Mucci (Severna Park, Md.) has been named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week while senior goalkeeper Amanda Hirschfeld (Timonium, Md.) earned conference Honor Roll accolades, as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon. The sophomore attack earns weekly honors after totaling 13 points in a 2-0 week for the Wildcats while the senior goalkeeper posted 20 saves for the Wildcats.
Mucci had five points via a goal and four assists in a 16-7 win at Columbia during a midweek matchup on March 13th. She followed that performance with a career-high eight points through three goals and five assists in an 11-7 win against Davidson at home on March 16th. For the season, Mucci leads Villanova with 31 points and leads the BIG EAST with 24 assists.
Hirschfeld led the Wildcats with an outstanding defensive effort for the week, collecting a career-high nine ground balls vs. Columbia and a combined 20 saves against the Tigers and Davidson. For the season, Hirschfeld posts a 8.29 GAA and a .495 save percentage.
Villanova enters BIG EAST action this weekend when they travel to Marquette and Notre Dame this Friday and Sunday. Game times slated for 6 and 1 p.m, respectively.
