VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's lacrosse team (1-1) hits the road for the first time in 2014 to take on Bucknell (0-3) on Saturday at noon in Lewisburg, Pa.

The Wildcats lost a heartbreaking 9-8 game to No. 20/11 Navy on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore midfielder Shannon Galvin led Villanova with three goals in the contest while junior attack Jessica Mucci had four assists.

Villanova led 5-4 at halftime, but the Midshipmen took the lead early in the second. The Wildcats continually chased Navy and tied the game numerous times, but the Midshipmen took the win.

The Wildcat defense held Navy to a season-low nine goals. The Midshipmen averaged 17 goals per game coming into the contest.

Sophomore goalkeeper Jaclyn Fraum came on in relief and made five saves against Navy, keeping the Wildcats alive in a close game.

Sophomore attack Kelsey Denihan leads the Wildcats in goals with eight while Mucci holds the assist lead with eight. Both Denihan and Mucci have nine points on the season.

The Wildcats have outshot the opposition through two games 52-26.

Scouting the Bison
Bucknell (0-3) is looking for its first win of the season. In their last outing, the Bison lost, 19-7, to Johns Hopkins. The Blue Jays outshot Bucknell 33-17 and held a 22-11 advantage in ground balls.

Emily Kookogey leads the Bison with six goals, while Katelyn Miller has four assists and six points. Goalkeeper Elizabeth Duswalt has started all three games and holds a 19.1 goals against average and has made 24 saves.
