VILLANOVA, Pa. -

Fresh off a 20-7 win over Michigan last Saturday, the Villanova women's lacrosse team (1-0) is ready to take on No. 20 Navy (4-0) Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Villanova Stadium.

Sophomore attack Kelsey Denihan was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her performance against Michigan, in which she scored seven goals and recorded an assist. All seven of her shots on goal resulted in a score. She also tallied two ground balls and two draw controls.

The Wildcats outshot the Wolverines 37-11 and held an 18-14 ground ball advantage. Villanova was 15-for-15 on clears and 2-for-4 on free-position shots.

McKenna's Seven Goals Help 'Cats Down Navy 15-14 in Overtime
The Villanova Wildcats journeyed south to Annapolis, Md., on Tuesday night and picked up their second straight victory thanks in large part to seven goals from senior Taryn McKenna.

Junior attack Jessica Mucci led the team in assists with four against Michigan and recorded five points. Sophomore midfielder Chelsey Henderson had four goals and three assists in the game.

Senior Julia Todd and sophomore Jaclyn Fraum split time in net, with Fraum making two saves.

Scouting the Midshipmen
No. 20 Navy (4-0) won 14-5 over Davidson last Sunday. The Midshipmen outshot the Wildcats 30-8 and picked up a 24-13 ground ball differential.

 

 

Attack Loren Generi led the team with five goals and four assists. Generi leads the Midshipmen with 35 points (17G, 18A), 12 ground balls and 24 draw controls.

Goalkeeper Annie Foky has started all four games in net for Navy and holds a 4.21 goals against average. The Midshipmen are averaging 34.2 shots per game while holding opponents to just 8.8 per game. Navy is 7-for-24 in free-position shots.
