'Cats Cruise to 18-4 Win at St. Francis (Pa.) to Conclude Campaign

LORETTA, Pa. - A strong start helped lift Villanova to an 18-4 victory over St. Francis (Pa.) in its final regular season game on Sunday afternoon. The Wildcats conclude the 2007 campaign with a 7-9 record, a four game improvement over last season.

The outcome of this contest was not in doubt for long as junior Stevie McFadden netted the first of her three goals on the afternoon to open the scoring. The `Cats added three more goals to take a 4-0 lead with 19:01 left in the first half. After a Red Flash goal, Villanova reeled off four more scores, capped by a Shannon Sullivan goal, to grab an 8-1 lead with 8:06 to go in the first half.

The Wildcats took an 11-4 advantage into intermission.

The second half was all Villanova, as the Wildcats scored seven times to make the final 18-4. McFadden led the way with three goals and a pair of assists while Kyler O'Shea added three goals and senior Christina Bahrs contributed two more to give her a team-high 29 on the season.

Three `Cat goalies saw action, with senior Jessica Brozena earning the victory.
