STORRS, Conn. - The Villanova women's lacrosse team (4-11, 2-5) couldn't overcome a scoring explosion and fell 13-6 at Connecticut on Friday evening.
The Wildcats held a 3-2 lead in the first half, but the Huskies (10-5, 3-4) used an 11-3 run to secure their victory and earn their third conference victory.
Donodeo scored first at the 28:11 mark to put Villanova up, 1-0, but UConn answered with back-to-back goals for a 2-1 advantage.
Goforth scored her goals on consecutive possessions with the first coming at 16:42 on a free position shot and the second on an assist from Ali Brandenburg with 13L53 left in the first half, which gave Villanova a 3-2 lead.
The Huskies quickly overcame the deficit finishing the half scoring four unanswered goals and led at the half, 6-3.
Donodeo opened up the second half with an unassisted goal at 27:12, but UConn responded with two goals, which kept the lead comfortable at 8-4.
Judge scored her first goal at the 12:03 mark on an assist from Donodeo, but the Huskies scoring attack was strong with five unanswered goals for a 13-5 advantage. Judge's final goal was unassisted with 45 seconds left to play.
Brandenburg won four draw controls while Goforth, and juniors Maria Bowman and Annie Fallon took two each. The Wildcats had a slight edge on the draw controls with 12, while UConn had just nine. Each team found the net for one free position shot.
Senior Princess Livingston took two ground balls in the game.
In goal, junior Dani Weidmeier picked up four ground balls and had three saves.
Villanova concludes the 2012 season on Sunday at Syracuse. First draw is slated for 1:00 p.m.
