Women's Lacrosse Falls to Davidson
VILLANOVA, PA ----- On Saturday, April 18, the Villanova Wildcats were defeated by the visiting Davidson Wildcats, 14-9, at Villanova Stadium. Villanova falls to 3-10 on the year, and Davidson improves to 4-9.
Villanova tied the score at 3-3 with 18:24 remaining in the first half when junior, co-captain Meghan Doyle scored her third goal of the afternoon. Villanova scored the next three goals to take a 6-3 lead at the 14:29 mark of the first half. Davidson responded by scoring just seven seconds later when junior Amanda Fleck beat Villanova net-minder Julie Pinnix (13 saves) and cut the Villanova lead to 6-4. Davidson managed to outscore Villanova 4-2 in the final 14:22 of the first half. The score was knotted at 8-8 at the intermission.
In second half action, Doyle scored her fourth goal of the afternoon giving Villanova a 9-8 lead just 0:11 into the half. Davidson scored the final six goals of the game, four of which were scored by freshman Rachel Bowen, to secure the 14-9 victory.
On Tuesday, April 21, Villanova travels down the Main Line to face-off against St. Joseph's at 4 pm.
