Johns Hopkins Defeats Women's Lacrosse 11-4

VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Johns Hopkins Blue Jays limited Villanova to 11 shots en route to an 11-4 victory here on Wednesday evening at Villanova Stadium. No. 19 Johns Hopkins improves to 7-4 overall while the Wildcats drop to 4-8 overall (1-4 Patriot League).
Johns Hopkins scored six times in the first half while holding the 'Cats to five shots and no goals. Heidi Pearce scored the first of her three goals on the evening at the 24:16 and Kelley Putnam followed that with a goal at 20:57. A Marlena Wittlesberger goal at the 13:46 mark made it a three goal lead. Meghan Burnett, Kate Barcomb, and Pearce scored three goals within two minutes late in the half to build the six goal edge.
Following an Erinn Dennis goal that made it 7-0 early in the second half in favor of Johns Hopkins, senior Meghan Carolan (Hicksville, N.Y.) got the Wildcats on the board when she scored off a free position shot with 24:23 left in the period. A Liz Holland goal made it 8-1 before sophomore Amy Rocap (Vienna, Va.) scored a goal at the 18:30 mark to make it an 8-2 game. However, the 'Cats would get no closer as the Blue Jays pulled away to the 11-4 final.
Sophomores Lindsey Syphard (Bel Air, Md.) and Katie Komlo (Bryn Mawr, Pa.) completed the scoring for Villanova with goals in the final seven minutes. Freshman Jess McGrattan (Rochester, N.Y.) made seven saves in goal for the Wildcats.
Villanova travels to meet Bucknell in its final regular season game of the Patriot League campaign this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.
