Villanova, Pa. - Cecily Pierce scored three goals and Molly O'Conor netted two on the afternoon but Villanova was unable to slow St. Joseph's on Tuesday afternoon, falling by the count of 16-6.

The Wildcats enjoyed an early advantage in the contest thanks to Pierce. She took a feed from freshman Caitlin Cocks at the 28:04 mark to give Villanova a 1-0 lead. After the Hawks tied the game, Julie Feddeman took another pass from Cocks and scored to make it 2-1. O'Conor then gave Villanova a 3-1 edge at the 17:25 mark of the first half.

St. Joseph's soon surged ahead, however. The Hawks scored nine of the next ten goals in the first half to build a 10-4 lead at intermission. A Pierce goal 1:03 into the second half cut the margin to 10-5 but that would be as close as the Wildcats would get the rest of the afternoon.

The Hawks, who outshot Villanova 32-17, were led by Brett Dymarczyk with five goals. Kelly O'Leary made eight saves in net for the 'Cats.

Villanova falls to 3-10 on the season, 1-2 in the Patriot League. Villanova returns to Patriot League action on Saturday afternoon at Colgate.
