Women's Lacrosse drops 16-1 decision at Pennsylvania

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Penn women's lacrosse team picked up their second-straight victory today as they rolled over Villanova, 16-1. The Quakers were led by senior Kate Murray who chipped in four goals and two assists and sophomore Emily Cochran who netted two goals and two assists.
Penn jumped out to a five goal lead that began with Cochran's first goal of the game at 24:00. Murray, Crissy Book, Lindsey Cassidy and Alison Polk-Williams all chipped in goals before Villanova's Elizabeth Firth snuck past Penn goaltender Alaina Harper to make the score 5-1.
Junior Chelsea Kaden scored off a pass from Cochran with one minute remaining in the half, putting the Quakers up 6-1 at intermission.
The Red and Blue exploded into the second half of competition, scoring five goals in five minutes. Murray, Spofford, Cochran and Allie Juras pitched in points for Penn.
Sophomore Kate Miller scored her third goal in three games and senior co-captain Whitney Horton put a point on the board of her own after dishing out three assists on the day. Freshman Ally Zeitz scored her first career goal as a Quaker and sophomore Sara Shelly netted her first season goal to end the game at 16-1.
Penn netminder Alaina Harper collected three saves while sophomore goalkeeper Liz Lorelli picked up six saves for the Quakers. Villanova goalkeeper Jess McGrattan stopped nine balls as Penn out-shot Villanova 28-11.
The Quakers improve to 4-7 overall as Villanova falls to 4-6. The Wildcats return to action at home on Wednesday afternoon when they host Lehigh at 4:00 p.m. in a Patriot League tussle.
