Villanova, Pa. - Villanova (3-7) scored five of the first six goals of the second half to cut the Wildcats' deficit to two, but the rally fell short as Le Moyne (5-2) defeated 'Nova 17-8 this evening at Villanova Stadium.

Villanova surged out to a quick start in the second half, scoring five of the first six goals to get within two, 8-6, with 13:41 left. `Nova's Alex Garvey scored off a Kathleen Kelly feed before Stevie McFadden, Taylor Lucy, and Taylor McKenna all went in unassisted. Amanda Keegan scored Le Moyne's goal in that run, off a pass from Whitney Vecchio. Christina Bahrs found the back of the net on a free position attempt at 13:41 for `Nova.

But Le Moyne out-scored the Wildcats 9-2 over the last 13:27 of the game to clinch the win.

The Dolphins scored the first seven goals of the game, including three by Hewitt to lead 7-0 with 3:50 remaining in the first half. Villanova's Shannon Sullivan knocked in the `Cats' only tally of the first half with 10 seconds remaining in the frame.

The Dolphins out-shot the Wildcats 35-23 and won 15 of 27 draw controls. Villanova's McFadden and Garvey led the `Cats with two goals each. Goalie Jessica Brozena made 11 saves for 'Nova.
