VILLANOVA, PA- On Tuesday, March 27, at Villanova Stadium, the Villanova women's lacrosse team scored a season-high 15 goals to roll to a 15-6 victory over Lehigh University. With the victory, the Wildcats improved to 3-5 overall on the season, while the Mountain Hawks fell to 1-5.

Villanova scored the game's first goal at the 12:08 mark of the first half, as Cecily Pierce found the net off of an assist by Jackie Higgins. The Wildcats went on to score seven more goals in the final 13 and a half minutes of the half, to take an 8-0 advantage into the half. Meghan Carolan led the charge with two goals and one assist in the first half, while Sarah DePeters and Pierce each netted two.

In the second half of action, Villanova continued to roll as Carolan and DePeters each posted two more goals to help the `Cats go on to a 15-6 victory.

Getting the win in goal for the Wildcats was Brandy Greneir, who recorded a team-high five saves. Kelly O'Leary came on and tallied third saves in the final 16:20 of regulation. Taking the loss for Lehigh was Vanessa Abbott, who saved a game-high nine shots.

On offense for Villanova, Carolan had five goals and one assist, while DePeters had four goals and one assist, and Pierce had three goals and one assist. Winding down the scoring for the Wildcats were Lauren Ferrara, Elizabeth Firth and Caitlin Cocks, who each had one goal apiece. Cocks also had a game-high three assists for the `Cats.

 

 

Villanova will get back into action on Saturday, March 31, as the Wildcats travel to Towson to play at 1:00 p.m.
