LeMoyne Defeats Wildcats 10-7

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Kylie Rosette (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) and Lisa McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) scored four points each to lead Le Moyne over Villanova in non-conference women's lacrosse action at Solvay High School. Le Moyne improves to 5-4 on the season, while the Wildcats drop to 2-5.
The Dolphins got on the board 39 seconds into the contest on an unassisted goal by senior Amanda Keegan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus). McCarthy scored on a free position shot two minutes later to open a 2-0 lead. Villanova rattled off four unanswered goals to take a 4-2 lead with 8:34 remaining in the first half. Le Moyne responded with three straight goals by McCarthy, Meghan Burgoon (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee), and Rosette to go into halftime with a 5-4 advantage.
Le Moyne pushed their lead to 8-4 with three goals over the first 11:28 of the second half. Villanova cut the lead in half on a goal with 14:30 remaining to make it 8-6. Beth Sierotnik (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) and Rosette each scored their second goals of the game around a Wildcat goal to deliver the 10-7 final. Junior goalkeeper Samantha Falcone registered nine saves in goal in picking up her fifth victory of the season.
Christina Bahrs led the 'Cats with three goals on the day while Taryn McKenna scored two and Stevie McFadden and Sam McKillip added one each. Senior Jessica Brozena made four saves in goal.
