Women's Lacrosse Falls to Boston College

VILLANOVA, PA ----- The Villanova Wildcats opened their Big East Season with a loss versus the visiting Boston College Eagles, 8-7, at Villanova Stadium on Saturday, March 7. The Wildcats record fell to 1-1.

Boston College jumped to an early one goal lead when senior Danielle Wood beat Villanova goalie Julie Pinnix 1:27 into the contest. The Wildcats responded 1:20 later when freshman Liz Kenny (2 goals) finished scored her first career goal after receiving a pass from junior Meghan Doyle (2 goals, 1 assist). However, the Eagles managed to outscore the Wildcats 5-2 in the remainder first half, taking a 6-3 lead at the intermission.

In the second half, Villanova scored the first two goals of the second half. Freshman, Terri Overturf netted her second career goal 5:33 into the half and Doyle scored her first of two second half goals just 1:40 later. Boston College refused to surrender it's lead, but Villanova cut the lead to 8-7 with 11:43 remaining in the game but that was the closest the Wildcats came. Despite a last minute Wildcat offensive rush, in which Villanova hit the post twice, the Eagles walked away with their second victory of the season.

On Wednesday, March 18, the Wildcats travel into Philadelphia to face-off versus the Temple Owls at 3pm.
