VILLANOVA, PA - Boston College senior Lauren Miller scored four goals and registered three assists and freshmen Courtney Legath also added four goals as the Eagles defeated the Villanova Wildcats, 13-5, in a women's lacrosse contest played Saturday afternoon at Villanova Stadium. The victory is the Eagles' sixth straight over the Wildcats dating back to the 1997 season. With the loss, Villanova drops to 0-1 on the season as Boston College improves to 2-0.

The Eagles took an early 1-0 lead when Miller connected on a shot at the 25:53 mark of the first half. However, Wildcat junior Meghan Carolan (Hicksville, N.Y./ Hicksville) answered right back knotting matters at one with an unassisted shot at the 24:29 mark. Both teams would go back and forth throughout the first stanza from that point on until Boston College's Susie Breaznell found the back of the net with only two seconds left to snap a 4-4 tie into the break.

Opening up the second half, Boston College tallied four unanswered goals, including Miller's fourth of the afternoon at the 25:14 mark, to give the Eagles a commanding 9-4 lead. Villanova would respond when senior Sarah DePeters (Rochester, N.Y./Irondequoit) got the Wildcats back on the board with her second goal of the day with 15:29 remaining but the `Cats were unable to sustain the Eagles' momentum. Boston College would receive four more goals down the stretch to lift them to the eventual 13-5 victory.

For the game, DePeters led Villanova with two goals while Carolan, senior Cecily Pierce (New Canann, Conn./ New Canaan) and freshman Steph Haas (North Wales, Pa./ Gwynedd Mercy) each tallied one goal a piece.

In the net, sophomore goalkeeper Brandy Grenier (Rochester, N.Y./ Brighton) made seven saves for the `Cats.

The Wildcats will return to action on Wednesday, March 13 when they play host to Siena College at 4:00 p.m. It will be the first ever meeting between the Wildcats and the Saints at Villanova Stadium.
