VILLANOVA, Pa. - The Villanova women's lacrosse squad (1-3, 0-1) dropped an 18-6 decision to No. 18 Georgetown on Saturday afternoon to open BIG EAST play.
Junior Shawna Giust posted five draw controls, while Bowman earned two.
The Hoyas (2-0, 1-0) got on the board first scoring the game's first three goals before Villanova answered. Bendinelli's first goal came at the 23:51 mark in the first half, while Goforth followed with a goal at 21:57. With 15:28 remaining in the half, the `Cats tied the score at 3-3 after a goal from Froccaro.
Georgetown closed out the first half with nine unanswered goals to lead 12-3 at the break.
The Hoyas continued their assault to open the second half with three additional goals before Bendinelli halted the run scoring on an assist from Donodeo. Villanova scored the game's final two goals as Bowman netted two unassisted.
Georgetown was led by Dina Jackson, who netted four goals, and Kelyn Freedman, who tallied three.
Villanova has a 10-day break before getting back to action on March 14 at George Washington. The game will begin at 4:00 p.m.
