19 Goal Explosion Gives Women's Lacrosse Home Win
March 19, 2000 Villanova, Pa. -The Villanova Wildcats recorded a single game season high for goals en route to a 19-10 victory over the La Salle Explorers in a women's lacrosse game played Sunday afternoon at Villanova Stadium.
Sophomore Sarah DePeters (Rochester, N.Y.) got the Wildcats rolling early with a goal at the 27:29 mark of the first half. Senior Molly O'Conor (Towson, Md.) scored for the Wildcats just 62 seconds later. By halftime Villanova had built an 8-3 lead.
The Wildcats dominated the second half, scoring 11 times.
O'Conor set the offensive pace with six goals on the afternoon. DePeters copntributed four goals to the cause while a pair of freshmen, Jackie Higgins and Caitlin Cocks offered plenty of production too. Higgins scored four goals and added a pair of assists. Cocks scored two goals and five assists. Kelly O'Leary made six saves in net for the Wildcats.
Villanova returns to action on Tuesday at home against Pennsylvania in a 4:00 p.m. start.
