VILLANOVA, Pa. - Freshman Lauren Wuzzardo has been named to the womensfieldhockey.com 2007 All-Rookie squad for her outstanding play in her first season as a Wildcat. Four BIG EAST rookies, including Wuzzardo, were listed among some of the top freshman from around the country. Maggie Befort of Syracuse, Melissa Gonzales of Connecticut, and Nicole Youman of Louisville were also recognized.

Freshman sensation Wuzzardo proved to have already left her mark on the BIG EAST Conference, as well as on the Main Line, in her rookie campaign. As Villanova's leading scorer with 13 goals and four assists, the Bridgeton, N.J. native held her own in the midfield by not only working her way into a starting role, but also becoming a crucial component in the Wildcats' 11-7 season. Most recently, Wuzzardo earned a spot on the BIG EAST second team, as well as the NFHCA Division I Mid-Atlantic Region second team. She is expected to develop into one of the league's most talented players over the next few years.
