Ramsden and Wuzzardo Named to All-BIG EAST Second Team

Storrs, Conn. - Sophomores Dana Ramsden (Woolwich, Twp., N.J.) and Lauren Wuzzardo (Bridgeton. N.J.) were named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team for their outstanding performances through the season. The Wildcats finished fifth in the BIG EAST with an overall record of 12-7 and 2-4 in conference play. Ramsden recorded a team high nine goals this season along with four assists. Returning from a redshirt season, Ramsden provided an offensive spark for the Wildcats early in the season, highlighted by her two goals in the contest against LaSalle. Ramsden twice notched four points in games against La Salle and Fairfield. She was named to the BIG EAST honor roll three times this season for her success throughout the year. Wuzzardo was third on the Wildcats with seven goals and tied for third with four assists for the year. This is the second time in her two year career that Wuzzardo has been named to the All-BIG EAST Second team and she was named to the BIG EAST honor roll in week 1. Wuzzardo tallied two goals in the Wildcat's game against Philadelphia rival St. Joe's, including a game winning goal in overtime.
The 2008-09 season turned out to be a record breaking year for the Wildcats as they started off the season with four shutouts, a first in the programs history. Villanova also won 10 of 11 games to start the season, including a six game winning streak.
