SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The BIG EAST Conference held their annual year-end awards banquet prior to the opening of the conference championship tournament this evening. Villanova's on-field success was prevalent due to their third place finish in the conference this season, and in addition, the conference honored 10 Wildcat players for being named to the BIG EAST All-Star Team.
To be recognized on this list, players have to maintain a 3.0 GPA or better. The ten BIG EAST Academic All-Stars are junior Amy Jackson, junior Moriah Allen, senior Jordan Lynn, sophomore Keira Zambon, junior Olivia Maggitti, sophomore Christine Lafferty, senior Mallary Kile, sophomore Celise Feller, senior Megan Goelz, and sophomore Alex Diekmann.
Tomorrow the BIG EAST conference championships will get under way.
No. 3 seed Villanova will finally take the field against No. 2 seed Syracuse at 3 p.m. in the second semi-final while No. 4 seed Louisville will take on No. 1 seed Connecticut in the first semi-final at 12:30 p.m.
