SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Villanova field hockey's Stephanie Campbell and Lauren Wuzzardo have been named to the All-BIG EAST Second Team for their outstanding play throughout the 2007 season. The duo has been aligned with the other top players in the conference as voted on by league coaches and announced at tonight's BIG EAST banquet in Syracuse, N.Y.

This year's selection marks the second consecutive year that Campbell has been named to the conference's second team. The senior captain, who was also selected as a member of the 2007 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team, collected six goals and dished out 12 assists racking up 24 total points in her final campaign as a Wildcat. Over the years, the defensive back's responsibilites have included generating offensive runs, serving as the primary striker on corners, and spoiling an opponent's attack. Most recently, Campbell earned herself a spot in the highly coveted NFHCA North/South Division I All-Star game scheduled to take place in mid-November.

Freshman sensation Wuzzardo proved to have already left her mark on the BIG EAST Conference in her rookie campaign. As Villanova's leading scorer with 13 goals and four assists, the Bridgeton, N.J. native held her own in the midfield by not only working her way into a starting role, but also becoming a crucial component in the Wildcats' 11-7 season. She is expected to develop into one of the league's most talented players over the next few years.

Villanova's conference rivals stacked up the remaining awards at tonight's banquet. Connecticut snagged the Offensive, as well as Defensive Player of the Year awards in the likes of Lizzy Peijs and Jennifer Kleinhans, respectively. Providence goalkeeper Rachel Chamberlain earned back-to-back BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year honors, while Syracuse first year head coach Ange Bradley earned the Coach of the Year award.
