VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova freshman goalkeeper Jordyn Clipstone (Harare, Zimbabwe/Hellenic Academy) was named to the BIG EAST Field Hockey Weekly Honor Roll on Monday for the second time this season. The news was announced via a BIG EAST press release.
It came as her third overall conference award as the freshman was named the Defender of the Week last Mon., Oct. 20. She earned her other Honor Roll selection on Sept. 1 in the first week of reporting.
Last Friday, Clipstone made eight saves against No. 5 Connecticut as she reached the 100-save mark.
Her 101 saves leads the conference as does her 6.73 saves per game.
The Zimbabwe native has started all 15 games in the cage for the Wildcats.
This is the seventh BIG EAST award for Villanova in 2014. In addition to Clipstone's Honor Roll nod on Sept. 1 and her major award on Oct. 20, four other Wildcats have earned Weekly Honor Roll selections this year in senior Maddy Harding (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) on Sept. 8, freshman Francesca Bello (Princeton, N.J./Hun School) on Sept. 22, senior Lauren Wilson (Hummelstown, Pa./Hershey) on Oct. 13 and junior Kayla Kenney (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) on Oct. 20.
The `Cats are back in action on Tues., Oct. 28 in a midweek, non-conference contest against crosstown rival Penn at Villanova Stadium. Action begins at 6 p.m. Live stats via GameTracker and a live video stream via Nova Nation All-Access will be available.
The squad will then close out its regular season schedule in a crucial BIG EAST matchup against Providence on Sat., Nov. 1 at Villanova Stadium before hosting Quinnipiac in a neutral site game in West Chester, Pa. on Sunday.
