VILLANOVA, Pa. -
The Villanova field hockey team (3-10, 0-5 BIG EAST) hosts No. 14 Louisville (12-4, 4-1 BIG EAST) Sunday at noon in the team's final home game of the season.
Midfielder Keira Zambon serves as co-captain of the Wildcats. Her dedication and talent have been on display for four seasons as she's played in nearly every game since arriving at Villanova.
Q: Why did you choose Villanova?
Keira: When I first got here, I went around and saw everyone wearing Villanova sweatshirts. When I'd go to other colleges, people around campus would be wearing gear from other schools. Everyone at Villanova supports Villanova and the spirit is really high. It's a Catholic university with a field hockey program and it has a great business school.
Q: What's been your favorite game to play in?
Keira: When we beat Louisville. They were a top team and we were the underdogs, and we beat them and were able to go to the BIG EAST Tournament.
Q: What's your favorite restaurant in Villanova?
Keira: Azie, it's a sushi place.
Q: What are you planning on doing after Villanova?
Keira: I'm working for KPMG, an accounting firm in Philadelphia.
Q: What is your favorite food?
Keira: Ice cream.
Q: What is your favorite animal?
Keira: I like dogs. Puppies.
Q: What the last movie you saw?
Keira: The last movie I watched was Pitch Perfect.
Q: What do you like to do outside of field hockey?
Keira: I like to go to the Shore. I go home for dinner a lot, see my family.
Q: If you could play another sport at Villanova, what would it be?
Q: If you could be a contestant on any game/reality show, which would you pick?
Keira: If you asked me when I was younger, my dream when I was like 6 years old was to be the point guard on the basketball team. So we'll go with that.
Wheel of Fortune.
Q: If you could switch places with any of your teammates, who would it be?
Keira: I'll say Courtney [Devine] because she's a freshman and I'd get to start all over again.
Q: Do you have any rituals for games?
Keira: This year, I normally wear a pin on my jersey. My grandfather passed away in the preseason, so I wear his tie pin on me.
Q: What's the best thing about being a Villanova athlete?
Keira: Ever since you were a kid, you've worked towards playing at this level. We got to this level, and we look back now and you wish you could start all over again and have your chances again. You're always learning and you'll never be a perfect player.
Q: What is your greatest strength on the field?
