VILLANOVA, Pa. - Villanova (7-9, 3-2) clinched a berth in the BIG EAST tournament last night by virtue of their 2-0 victory over Georgetown coupled with a Providence loss to Louisville. It is Villanova's first appearance in the BIG EAST postseason tournament since 2006, when the Wildcats lost in the semifinals to Providence.

This season, Villanova has logged conference victories over Rutgers, Louisville, and Georgetown, thus far with one game remaining against Syracuse next Friday afternoon.

Currently, Villanova sits in third place in the conference with an outside chance of moving up to second.

The conference tournament gets under way on November 4th with semifinal action, followed by the BIG EAST Championship on November 6th. All conference tournament games will be played at Syracuse.
