VILLANOVA, Pa.-- Villanova field hockey is hitting the road for its second BIG EAST road game. They will travel to Hamden, Conn. as they take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29.
The Wildcats are coming off a 1-1 week as they hosted Fairfield and Providence. Against Fairfield, Villanova was able to edge the Stags with a game winning goal from Abby Siana in the closing minutes of regulation. The squad hosted their first BIG EAST opponent at home, but weren't able to contain a potent Providence offense as they dropped the contest, 4-1. The lone goal for the Wildcats came from Suzie Clark. As a team Villanova is averaging 13 shots per game while edging the competition in penalty corners, 74-66 on the season. The Wildcats have also seen solid play from Junior goalkeeper Erika Miller as she has 69 saves on the season.
Quinnipiac is also coming off a 1-1 weekend as they hosted Liberty and California in the QU Bobcat Tournament. In the game against Liberty, the Bobcats were able to put out the Flames with a 1-0 victory. On Sunday, they faced California in a tough match-up, but came up just short dropping the match, 3-2. The Bobcats have captured 61 saves on the season as they are allowing 2.6 goals a game with 14.5 shots per game.
