PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Alex Diekmann earned her third appearance of the season on the BIG EAST's Weekly Honor Roll as announced by the conference Monday morning. Diekmann held the No. 5 ranked Connecticut Huskies to just one score in the Sunday afternoon 1-0 loss.
UConn went scoreless in the first half, but managed to net a goal in the final five minutes of play to capture the win over Villanova. Diekmann posted a season and career-high 14 saves for the second time this season (also against Syracuse 9/14). She now has registered 71 saves on the season and has notched one shutout. Diekmann currently leads the BIG EAST in saves (71) and saves per game (7.89).
This is the fifth-consecutive week a Wildcat has inked a spot on the Honor Roll.
The conference also named Louisville's Erin Conrad and Amber Thomas, Providence's Steph Guglielmo and Syracuse's Leonie Geyer to the Honor Roll list.
Syracuse's Leann Stiver captured Defensive Player of the Week and Connecticut's Chloe Hunnable took the Offensive Player of the Week award. Hunnable tallied the game-winning assist versus the Wildcats on Sunday.
Diekmann and the Wildcats take the field in a pair of matches this weekend at BIG EAST opponent Rutgers Saturday at noon and Sunday versus Bryant at 1 PM at Villanova Stadium.
