VILLANOVA, Pa. - Former Wildcat Moriah Allen rejoins the Villanova field hockey team as a part-time assistant coach, head coach Joanie Milhous announced Thursday afternoon.

Allen was a key member of the Wildcat defense in her four years at Villanova. The Langhorne, Pa., native graduated in May with a degree in biology.

Allen began her career at Villanova as a midfielder before transitioning to back. She started in the majority of games in her time as a `Cat, leading the defense to numerous successes.

As a senior in 2012, Allen started all 19 games at back and served as a team captain. She was a member of the defensive core that held No. 5 Connecticut to just one goal.

In her junior season, Allen played in all 19 games at midfield. She started 18 games, including all six BIG EAST matches. Allen helped her team reach the BIG EAST Championship for the first time since 2006.

As a sophomore in 2010, Allen started all 17 games, including all six BIG EAST matches, at midfield and tallied an assist against Penn (Sept. 22).

Allen began her Wildcat career as a midfielder in 2009. She saw action in 14 games as a rookie.

Allen was named to the NHFCA National Academic Squad all four years at Villanova.

The Wildcats open BIG EAST Conference play tonight against No. 14 Temple at Villanova Stadium at 7 p.m.
