Villanova Predicted to Finish Fifth in BIG EAST

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Wildcat Field Hockey has been picked to finish fifth out of the seven teams in the BIG EAST Conference poll, as announced on Tuesday afternoon. Villanova is coming off a strong season where they went 8-11 overall and 3-3 in the BIG EAST, which granted them a tie for the third place finish and an invitation to the BIG EAST Championship Tournament.

Connecticut was chosen as the conference's top team for the third successive year followed by Syracuse, Louisville, Rutgers, Villanova, Providence, and Georgetown. Connecticut junior midfielder Marie Elena Bolles was selected as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year and the Preseason Co-Defensive Players of the Year were earned by Connecticut junior goalkeeper Sarah Mansfield and Syracuse junior back Laura Hahnefeldt.

Villanova's 2012 season begins on August 24th at the Robert Morris Tournament at 7 p.m.
