Wildcats Picked to Finish Sixth in BIG EAST

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Villanova field hockey team has been selected to finish sixth out of the seven teams in the BIG EAST preseason conference poll, as announced on Thursday afternoon. The Wildcats are coming off a season where they went 7-10 overall and 2-4 in the BIG EAST, which gave them a tied for fourth place finish.
The remainder of the preseason poll shakes out with Connecticut being picked to finish first followed by Syracuse, Louisville, Rutgers, Providence, Villanova, and Georgetown. Syracuse senior midfielder Martina Loncarica was selected as the preseason Offensive Player of the Year and Connecticut's senior back Rayell Heistand was picked as the preseason Defensive Player of the Year.
Villanova will get the 2011 campaign kicked off on August 27th against Bryant University at Villanova Stadium at 1 p.m.
